Ramadhan buffet review 2012

So, the first Ramadhan buffet we had this year was in Kelab Darul Ehsan (KDE), Ampang. Three years in a row we had iftar here with the in laws, it became a tradition already I guess. Price was around RM59 per adult. They serve local food, and I shall rate this 3/5 :)

However, if you're bringing a baby, make sure either you came really early for the high chair or you bring your own stroller. The place is convenient for baby though, Khaira sleeps happily while we ate.

With our friends in Uniten, we had iftar at Seoul Garden again. Price is about RM42 per person. Which was worth it. I had a lot of crabs and clams that my allergy worsen the next morning. Still, worth it :)

But, my baby seem unsettled here. It became hot and sticky when everyone started cooking. Plus, I did not eat that much because you know, taking turns to eat + cooking + talking. Haha, not the best place for babies I guess.

I must say, I am very happy with Ramadhan this year. We planned it very thoroughly and we had the chance to iftar with everyone. My grandparents, Love's grandmom, my girlfriends, SABians, supper with Ampang people.

With my family, this year we went to Murni Discovery, Sunway. Our new favourite makan place! They had buffet for RM 25 per person. But I just had ala carte. Maggi goreng softshell crab. Maggi goreng was nice. Guess I must have forgotten how artificial soft shell crab tasted like. But the buffet was crazy!! They serve all the Marylands and Chops, yummy! But the drinks, they serve only cordial. So, no fancy Pink Panther or what not. For me, with servings like Murni Discovery, who needs buffet anyway? So, I'm happy with ala carte.

Also, I must say, surprisingly Khaira seems convenient here. They gave her high chair. And a salesman came selling an Angry Bird toy for Khaira, so she became a happy baby. And everyone was happy, end of story. Hehe.

With Love's colleague, we had iftar at one of the golf's club in Shah Alam. Guess it was KGSAAS, a treat from his boss. Nice lady, may Allah SWT bless you. Local food, ikan bakar ultimate sedap!! And sup gearbox!! First time I found this in a buffet.

This is an open air restaurant. Quite warm for the babies. Luckily, Khaira was pretty contented with the bananas and grapes, she ate seriously a lot.

The final iftar we had this year was with my girlfriends in Murni Discovery, Taipan. Here, Love and I shared Nasi Goreng Tomyam + Lamb Chop + Ayam Pandan. The serving was quite small compared to Murni SS2 and Sunway. And the Nasi Goreng Tomyam was not as nice. But I think the Ayam Pandan was a lot yummier than SS2's.

Open air, no wind, but Khaira was ok. Ramai aunty2 melayan. :)

Owh.. with Sabians, since most of us came with our babies, we had our iftar in Hafiz's and Ain's place. Pot luck. I Love brought his yummy potato salad, yup he cooked it with pieces of bacons. Sedappp!!

And with Ampang people, we planned to have it in Great Eastern, but something came up. So, we had a supper somewhere near our place. (After a failed attempt of having burger bakar.. Stuck in a jam only to find out kedai tutup!) (T_T)

And now, to Raya mood!!!!!!!!!! Well in a while, after I'm done with my critical review.. *Chaiyo!*

Celebrating mothers!

MIL's birthday - Haji Sharin Low, Ampang

I realized that the best thing of not having to be the first child in my in law's side is that I don't have to plan for everything.

Seriously, I'm running out of ideas on where to eat on everyone's birthdays or where to have our holiday every single year and the worst question is the 'when'. Adoi! People nowadays are like Prime Minister, you have to make appointments months earlier!

'Love' missing in the photo.

It feels nice to not have to crack your mind (and come out with almost the same idea everytime pon) sometimes. So, I could just enjoy and relax with the whole family, esp. Love and Khaira.. Must thank BIL and SIL for the brilliant plan.

Found my favourite dish this time: Ikan masak asam pedas, not the kuah one but rather the dry one. (Taktau nama, but sedap sangat!)

Mum's birthday, Haji Sharin low, Kajang.

First time here, it's cozy and spacious. And the service is superb!

No cake this time around, but Beryl's chocolate with crushed Oreo filling, custom made, how do you like it? The box are also edible, made of Beryl's chocolate. :)

Bought it through Groupon, but if you like it, this is the link --> Pandanus Chocolatious.

I love the taste, i love the look and the service! Excellent job!!

Haji Shahrin Low @ Jalan Ampang

I loveeeee Chinese Muslim food!!

I have been wanting to try Haji Shahrin Low for quite some times. So, I was more than happy when Hashir decided to have break fast gathering at the restaurant this year! Last year was at CPK, blogged all about it here.

My first impression of the restaurant was that it was too small. And the service was so-so. BUT, the food was sooooo sedap and cheap!!

See the bills, for 13 people and we ate until sangat2 full together with the yummiest dessert (Chinese pancakes) cost us only RM25 per pax!!

I especially love the Tauhu Telur Masin and Telur Masin Kw. Tau Meow. Yummy!!

Picture of us at Haji Shahrin, tade group photo this year.. :(

With Love and Mr. Organizer, Hashir

Nadia, Aini and hubby.

Raihan, Fadh and Ieja. Ieja looks adorable with hijjab :)

Jep, Farah, Faiz and Shameem!

After break fast, we went to Tutti Frutti for desert. The first time we went there, it cost us a bomb. So, this year, belajar dari Shameem.. dah pandai ambil berpada2. Cost us only RM6.. Red Velvet + Death by Chocolate :)

Had funnnn!! Hope to see you guys next year with Little Princess around!!~

The best Ramadhan buffet 2011

I wonder what was I thinking when I decided to work on Friday the week of Raya.

Yup, I need to save my leave so that I can have longer holiday after birth. BUT, seriously.. no air cond?! And they were only FOUR cars at the parking lot including mine. FOUR! And there was not even a single technician on standby!

Seriously, I'm gonna bore myself to death. Thank God, there's internet Little Princess to keep me occupied.

Anyway, Ramadhan is over. Alhamdulillah. I had three different buffets for iftar this year. One at Kelab Darul Ehsan (KDE), one at Seoul Garden and another at Sime Darby Convention Center.

I blogged about Seoul Garden here.

Buffet in KDE was so-so. With the price of RM50 per pax, KDE served mostly Malay food. The normal Nasi beriyani and such, fried kuey teow, yong tau foo, and I guess the specialty was Lidah Lembu (erk?)

Nothing special for me except the fact that we had our first buka puasa of 2011 with my in law's family.

But the best Ramadhan buffet this year, or rather I would like to think the best buffet I ever had in my entire 26 years of life has got to be the one in Sime Darby Convention Centre.

The food was good and a lot of variety. From Malay food, to Nasi Arab, to Chinese Dim Sum, to Sushi, to Pasta, to the fanciest dessert, wahhh!!

The ambience was good, the music was relaxing, access to Surau was easy.

And the companion was the best part. :)

My brothers, Love, my BIL, my dad, my BIL's father in law, and my father in law.
My MIL, my SIL's mother, my SIL, me and my mum. With the price of RM70 per pax (early bird is only RM50), this one is definitely worth it! :)

Seoul Garden @ OU

Break fast at Seoul Garden, OU yesterday.

I tried Seoul Garden before, I didn't quite fancy the food there. I so much prefer Yuen's Steamboat, cheaper, yummier and better options.

But the company was superb and ok la, got grill also kan.. so RM47 per person was worth it.

I honestly think it's funny to name the restaurant Seoul Garden, makes you think it's a Korean dish kan. Haha! IT'S NOT!! Tak rasa Korean dish at all.

You wanna see the real Korean dish, I will update the pics next week since this Saturday MIL made Korean dish for break fast, wheeeee!!!! I can't wait!

Anyway, some pics with my dearest from yesterday's event..

With Myra, Nadrah and Iza Lyana.

Love with Hashir, AG, Hisham and Shariz.
My only one.
Hope this will be our tradition from now on. As compared to last year's break fast at Lala Chong, we missed Nonee this year :( but I hope we won't missed anyone else next year. Because I just heart each and everyone of ya! ;)

Thank God It's Friday!

The first time I tried TGI Friday's was on Valentine's 2005, with my soulmate back then.

I remember everything so vividly since it was a perfect date. I guess it was our first fancy date together, and he got me a rose afterwards and before we got back, we strolled along the road staring at the wonderful lights that shower the night.

I was in love.

We were in love.

I remember how I was pampered and loved and I used to say to myself, it would be nice to be married to someone that was as intellectually stimulating as him.

At TGI Friday's in 2005

6 years plus down the road, I visited TGI Friday's for the second time.

With the same soulmate.

And it was a perfect date. The food, the service, and most of all the company :)

I was in love.

We were in love.

And I am still being pampered and loved more and more each day. I feel like saying to the world, "Hey peeps, we're married.. finally".

Love with BBQ beef sandwich, oh so yummy!

Me with my Chicken Fajitas Nachos, pon sedap!!

Mini desserts; 3 for RM10.50. We chose Snickers, Oreo and Mocha Latte. The best has got to be Mocha Latte!!

Pasta Zanmai @ Mid Valley

Love and I had lunch with Myra last Saturday to celebrate her belated birthday.

Never tried Pasta Zanmai before, so when Myra suggested the place, we immediately agreed.

I was a bit skeptical at first looking at the menu, Japanese-Western fusion food, so not appealing. But from my reading from several blogs, they said that the pizza was highly recommended, I tried July Special - Ebi Pizza (Pizza with lots of small prawns as topping) and oh my god.. it tasted like pizza with some dried shrimps, so horrible!

But Love's Unagi set was super duper nice. Though I was not a big fan of eel, that one was an exception.

Myra had some pasta which was nice also; price range of all the food varies from RM19 - RM 30.

Overall, I love the services and ambience. Food was good except mine. And the dessert was to die for!

To Mya: Happy belated birthday, we had super duper fun with you last Saturday.
To Love: Thank you simply for making what matters to me matters to you ALL THE TIME!

The 3 restaurants I just discovered

Woke up feeling like a zombie today.

Got home around 12 midnight after having a night of fun at La Risata, Jalan Ampang with Hasihir and co. Italian dining, really nice ambience but the food was so-so.

I love most the pizza.

Anyway, on the eve of our anniversary, we tried a new place for dessert called Fruitland in Subang.

We tried Rainbow Lolo and some Tao Fu Fa glutinous rice ball.

Rainbow Lolo was so-so.

But the Tao Fu Fa was super yummy.

Also, a week ago, Love and I had some free time for ourselves!!

Finally, after a while being super duper busy with baby and Homer (our new home!), Love decided to bring me to The Curve for a little break.

Again the main dish was so-so.

But, this dessert (which I forgot the name) has got to be my favourite :)

Anyway, rezeki baby!! Last month, I became a permanent staff and thus, gaji saya naik this month!!!!! :) And starting from this month, our company starts to give monthly transportation allowance. So, walaupun this month baru start potong zakat and tabung haji, still gaji lebih from last month. ALHAMDULILLAH!!

Nadrah's birthday celebration

Things could have been so much better for me these past couple of weeks.

My beloved grandma was hospitalized for a few days since she broke her hips, we spent countless days in hospital.

Now that grandma was discharged and mum had been taking a really good care of her, I decided to have a little time out with the girls.

MY FIRST SLEEPOVER AFTER MARRIED, Y'ALL!! Wheeee!!

Nadrah, Iza, Myra and I, doing what Myra and I used to do everytime I sleepover at her place, watching some scary movies.

Anyway, we started a splendid night with a dinner in Chez Rose.

Food was quite pricey. Range is from RM30 - RM50, read all about the reviews and more of the photos from Nadrah's blog.

We bought her the Sereni and Shentel's Tea for Two Garland that she had been craving for, Myra's brilliant suggestion.

Then, we headed to Myra's brother's condo in Putramas, where we had our sleepover at. Played with the Photo Booth app in Nadrah's Macbook for a while..

Catch a movie, had some pillowtalk and a nice sleep.

Woke up in the morning, had some breakfast and went for a swim. Gambar tak boleh upload ok, these girls are so freaking hot to handle. ;p

Then, we had our lunch at Wau Penyu, Solaris Dutamas, read the full review here.

Such good time that i'll always remember.

TQ Myra, for inviting. Though I'm married, I'm happy that I'm still close to their hearts.

And to beloved Nadrah, Happy birthday, gorgeous. May Allah SWT bless you always.

Happy to have such mesmerizing hearts as friends :)

Ayers Rock - Butcher and Grill

Had a weekend all by ourselves last week, and boy, it was good!

We barely had time to spend just for ourselves these past couple of months. With weddings and hang outs and family activities, so last weekend was the moment we have been waiting for, to just chill.

The morning we woke up, Love said, "I'm craving for burger."
He was a die hard fan of burger and I was not. For me, it was way too big to bite and sloppy and bla.. bla.. All the reasons why I hate them are just exacty why Love likes them. Funny!

"Let's have a burger then? Wendy's or Carl's Jr.?" I asked.
"I don't want any burger. I want Massive Burger!" He replied.
"The 500gram German's Deli?""Tak.. There's this one burger shop I've been craving to bring you.. Jom Bukit Jelutong!"

So off we went to Bukit Jelutong. Since we were there he dropped by to a friend's house palace (OMG! how cool is the house there!) for a jamming session.

Then we had Massive Burger. I had only the patty, I don't like the bread.

And it was the best patty I've ever tasted in my life, SERIOUSLY. :)

Thai Thai @ Sunway Pyramid

Met BFF Qdin over the weekend.

Took him days to really decide on where to eat (you know, men, sigh..) and finally he said he wanted something Asian, more of Thai food. So there we were.

Also, took him forever to decide on what to eat before settling down having a pineapple fried rice yang taklah sedap mana pun. ;p

Just to boast, my impulsive habit of ordering food really paid off as Qdin and I agreed that mine was the best dish of the day..

I can't really remember the Thai name of this dish, it's like a salted fish fried rice with Kailan and chicken. Yumm!

Love had meehoon Pattaya and was arguing that his dish was the best, haha.

Ok verdict: I love the deco, the ambience, the food and the price was reasonable. Might throw another visit there.

Such short period to have Qdin here. He just got back on new year and would be going home this Wednesday. Sad! But I met him twice already, last week he threw a visit to my office and we had tea together..

Truth is, our hang out session this time was so different from what it used to be.

We used to always hang out just the two of us. Talking about ultimate nonsense. ULTIMATE NONSENSE. You wouldn't want to know. Or we shared our view on relationship. I had his guy's view on things, he had mine on girl's.

Now, it would be the three of us since I'm married. I don't want Love to feel awkward, catching up on our conversations and I don't want Qdin to feel like he's the third wheel cuz he's definitely not.

But, the three of us had the best time of our lives.

Qdin had been so nice that everytime we talked about something, he enlightened Love on the situation so that he would be part of the conversation.

And Love had been so nice trying to catch up with our nonsense conversation that he joined in almost everytime pun. He gave his guy's point of view on relationship thingy too!

I thank God to have these two men in my life.

As long as you make the partner feel comfortable and secure and respectful, you might end up with a best friend of a different gender that you will forever treasure.

And I will forever treasure you, Qdin!!! ♥

Delicious @ OU

Salam to the year 2011!!

Alhamdulillah, wishlist for 2010 has all been granted, syukur.

And what better way to celebrate the beginning of such fantastic year?

None other than spending a day with these precious..

We were there to celebrate the birthday of these two December babies; Mel and Anis..

However, Mel had a serious food poisoning that morning, so.. :( sangat sedih. We managed to see her that night anyway, will blog about it later.

It was my first time at Delicious. It was suggested by Mel. Actually, she suggested Chillis and Delicious, I decided to go to Delicious since I had never been there before.

Good thing was, Delicious had this!

Buffalo wings, similar to Chillis. But, Chillis memang jauh lagi sedap! Luckily I had this for beverage..

Honey lemon, superb!

For me, the food was so-so. The only thing that caught my interest was Mimi's dish, mushroom burger. Burger with a huge porta bella mushroom as the patty. I don't really like the ambience either. Not a good place to hang out with a bunch of friends, the lighting and the seating was too romantic.

Still, with a good company, we had a great lunch.

Happy new year, everyone. Bismillah.. Let's start with a better year ahead of us :)

Yuen Buffet Steamboat @ Sunway!

Last Monday was my dad's birthday. We had a dinner at Yuen's buffet and steamboat. My treat. After my youngest brother took his portion of food, I looked at him, slightly annoyed, "Why you took so little?"
Looking all innocent, replied, "I'm full."

I was like, "YOU'RE FULL???? I'm not bringing you to a buffet to have such reply!"
"Owh.. It's a buffet??" He replied. "Ok, i go take some more. Scared you'll end up paying a lot for my food."
Love and I laughed. Sweet.. but OMG so funny! Both of my brothers are still not used of the fact that I'm really working now and afford to give them pocket money every month and buying them dinner every now and then. They would be like, "Aren't you still studying?" (As in doing my PhD)

We've had the time of our life eating all the seafoods, me on the other hand was eating only three items; a whole lot of crabs, lala and the grilled chicken wings!

The best part is that, the price is only RM20.40 per person not inclusive of drinks. But they have a wide selection of seafoods and dumplings, I love this place a lot.

Death by chocolate

Had dinner at Lala Chong the other day. Would rather not explain the food in details. You can check Nadrah's blog to read more about it.

Then we went to Tutti Frutti, TTDI. Been itching to go there for ages.

We had Strawberry Banana and..

Death by Chocolate.

Honestly, I really don't fancy dessert! They're too sweet for my liking. And i don't like anything cold especially ice blended. Gosh, just thinking about it made me having a brain freeze already.

So, Strawberry Banana + Frozen yogurt + Love's idea of putting lots of gummy bears were definitely not a perfect combo for me.

But Death by Chocolate + Milo cereal made it bearable.

If you love dessert, I think you should just ignore what I wrote about Tutti Frutti here. It's nice actually, but like I said, I'm not a big fan of dessert.

California Pizza Kitchen!

I am not a big fan of Pizza.

For years, the top two worst pizzas in my list WAS from California Pizza Kitchen and Yellow Cab.

So, I wasn't that psyched when my friends asked me to break fast at California Pizza Kitchen yesterday. A few years back, I celebrated Love's birthday there, and god, the pizza tasted so bad.. and expensive!!

But yesterday changed EVERYTHING. There was 9 of us, and we took the Ramadhan set, with 2 pizzas, Fettuccini, Bolognaise, Shanghai Noodels, Miso salad, Thai salad, 10 drinks and 10 ice creams!! Costs us RM 26 each, which according to Dian, "is a dream come true in California Pizza Kitchen" and the pizza was not that bad!! I mean, not yummy, but definitely not that bad. But the salad and pastas are just awesome!!

When it was time to take a group photo, we asked one of the waiter to take a picture of us, the angle is from our left hand side, but since Jep sat at the most left, his picture became too small.

I decided to get another waiter to take it from our right hand side, and here is the output..

And he showed it to Jep, asking if the picture was ok, Jep looked a bit blur and the waiter just left.

When we looked at the picture, we luaghed our head off.

Ok, can you tell what's wrong with the picture? IQ test ni..

Try to do headcount! I mentioned that there were 9 of us, ryte? Yup, he cut Jep from the picture very perfectly. Look here (second attempt from the third waiter)...

Much better!

Anyways, then we had supper at Dome. And i did not have anything there. I don't feel like having cold drinks. And the only hot drinks they have are tea and coffee, which by the way is a no-no for those who are taking homeopathy. So sad.. :(

Gaucho Grill

As I mentioned previously, when you got married a lot of people wanted to buy you lunch or dinner, right? So, I discovered a new makan/lepak place called Gaucho Grill in Chulan Square.

The price range is more or less the same as Chilli's. But the best part is that during weekdays, they had this promotion where you pay RM 28 for your lunch set and you'll get free buffet of vegetables. Not so excited, I'm not a big fan of vegies btw, but the asparagus is really really yummy!!

Anyways, I went there with Love and his parents. Hadn't really try variety of foods there as Love and his parents had beef steak and I tried the lamb chop. But, I discovered soemthing very interesting that day..

See, mum-in-law had her steak medium rare, dad-in-law had his steak medium and Love's steak was medium well. I didn't know that it made a whole lot difference on the taste of the steak depending on how you cooked it. Medium rare is a lot more tender, but I just couldn't stand the blood. So, my fav is still well done.

I googled on some Degree of cooking in wikipedia, I think it's fun to share this with you:

Raw - Uncooked.
Seared, Blue rare or very rare - Cooked very quickly; the outside is seared, but the inside is usually cool and barely cooked. The steak will be red on the inside and barely warmed.
Rare - The outside is gray-brown, and the middle of the steak is red and slightly warm.
Medium rare - The steak will have a fully red, warm center.
Medium - The middle of the steak is hot and red with pink surrounding the center. The outside is gray-brown.
Medium well done - The meat is light pink surrounding the center.
Well done - The meat is gray-brown throughout and slightly charred.
Overcook - The meat is dark throughout and slightly bitter.

Anyway, this is the latest picture of Love and me..

Please tell me the specs make me look rounder.
