How I wean off my Little K

Two years old marks a gigantic step for Khaira.

It started with weaning off.. no more breastfeeding, sweetheart! *yay*

The yay is because, it hurts like crazy laaa.. she has sooo many teeth now and I have lesser milk, so you get my picture right. Plus the Quran said until two, and friends said that beyond two it gets harder to wean them off (lagi kesian) and they became so dependent (I want her to be manja and yet independent at the same time) and my milk is almost gone nowadays, beats the purpose right.

I didn't do coffee, salt, balm, plaster, none. I tried Barely Supermommy's  method. It works like magic!! Thank you, Dr. Halina.

Everyday since she was 18 months, I kept telling her, she needs to drink using bottle when she turns two. I made sure she said ok.

Since I myself hate abrupt chanegs, I tried not to do it to my baby.

What I did..

At 18 months: "Khaira, you can only drink Ibu's milk after 11am ok!" So right after she woke up until 11am, no Susu Ibu as what whe was referring my milk to.

At 20 months: "Khaira, you can only drink Ibu's milk after 1pm ok!"

At 21 months: "Khaira, you can only drink Ibu's milk after 5pm ok!"

At 22 months: "Khaira, you can only drink Ibu's milk after 8pm ok!"

At 23 months: "Khaira, you can only drink Ibu's milk only when you want to sleep at night!"

At 24 months: "Susu Ibu finish already, let's drink Khaira's milk (as what she was referring to her Enfagrow)

Along the way, I bought God knows how many bottles.. gambar cupcake lah, frog lah, sheep lah, so I let her choose, "Susu Ibu habis, what bottle do you want today?"

She got so excited to choose. And totally forgotten about my milk.

Of course sometimes it worked. Sometimes it didn't.

Persistent is the key.

And of course, I'm just a mother, some times I felt so kesiannn.. But now at two years and a week, I can proudly say, she weaned off for almost two weeks already.

I'm proud of you, Big Girl!!

Next step, separate bed.. *Close my eyes and pray*

Khaira's 2nd birthday party

Khaira's 2nd birthday party was rather mundane..

That morning.. after we cooked the food for 200 guests.. we received the news of the passing of my grandmom. Too late to call off the party and couldn't afford to waste the food, dad asked us to proceed while the whole family left to kampung before the event started.

It started with a tahlil for both my grandmom and uncle..

I'm forever thankful to my aunt and dearest colleague,  Red whom came to help us since both my parents and mil weren't there. Mil was in Korea at the moment.

Khaira had two birthday cakes this year, the ones below was proudly done by my sil..

I would like to thank my lovely friends whom made it on that day and make the whole sadness easier for a while. I love each and everyone of you..

Some pics that Love managed to capture..

Happy birthday, my sweetheart. May next year we have a better celebration.

I love you.

Farewell

My grandmother passed away eight days after the passing of my uncle.

She passed away in her sleep peacefully with four of her children coincidentally there to visit her.

Innalillah. Al fatihah.

Three losses in less than half a year hurts like crazy.

I hope that would be the last.

The birthday I don't feel like remembering..

We've had a perfect plan for my birthday.. yet I woke up with puffy eyes.. too much tears from last night..

It started all well. On the 10th, both Love and I spent the night at Istana Budaya.. so much laughters. We came home late, perhaps around 1am. Straight away went to bed at mom's place as we need to work that Friday.

2 hours later.. mom called. I was kinda annoyed. It was 3 am and mom could have just knocked my room. I didn't pick up her call.  Went to her bedroom and it was empty. I started to panick. So I called her back.

"Uncle Mi passed away," she said in tears. I was numb. This can't be happening.  See, my grandmother from dad's side was seriously sick. She was in a hospital with life support. Both of my grandparents from mom's side was sick. My aunt recently got her leg amputed. But Uncle Mi was as healthy as a horse. The night before, he spent the entire night with my dad mamaking. What the hell is going on??

Was hoping it was a dream. I guess it wasn't.

He was the closest uncle I've had in my life. He was there with me in every stage of my life..EVERY.

Too hard to write the good times we've had. He passed away due to heart attack, the thing he never had before. Friday morning, kebumi on Friday, dalam 10 zulhijjah. He's one of the kindest person I've met in life. He's just 51.

I'm still at shock. Loss for words. Insecure. And I miss him god knows how much..

Al fatihah Mohamed Helmi Mohd Saad. I love you. You'll forever be missed.

Our trip to Cameron Highland!!!

My family and I went to Cameron last weekend, our first since a very loonggg time ago.

We booked an apartment called Tringkap apartment via Agoda, which costs us RM 300 per night including tax. We were absolutely happy with the super spacious and clean apartment. It has five queen size bedrooms with two toilets equipped with heater.

The location of the apartment was probably the best. Near to the attractions, but quite a distance from Tanah Rata, so we can avoid the traffic. It has two Muslim restaurants nearby which was quite convenient for us.

Friends suggested to use Simpang Pulai rather than Tapah, so it took us 4 hours (plus stopping for a break and prayer at the RnR) to reach our apartment.

I'm gonna leave you with the photos..

Day 1.

We first stopped by at Lavender Garden, RM4 per adult. Sooo cantik!!!

The cafe was super expensive; selling strawberry cheese cakes, scones, strawberry tea and coffee. However they are not to our likings.

The view from its cafe

Abi: Beautiful!! Who made all these, Khaira?
Khaira: Allah!!!

Then, we went to Bharat Tea Walk. Entrance is free. Buy your Bharat tea here. Tempat lain semua mahal, though they claimed they were the cheapest. Tipu itu semua, I kena tipu!

Mom and Dad!
 Double rainbow, look look!!

View from our apartment
At night, we drove through the heavy traffic to Tanah Rata for a steamboat dinner for what seems like the most decent and the only halal signboard restaurant we found; Glory 78 Steamboat Snack Corner, next to De La Ferns Hotel. Price is RM 23 per adult.

Then, we dropped by for souvenirs shopping at the night market!!! Night market was super awesome, bigger than the ones in Batu Feringghi.

Day 2

Started our day with the Bee Museum..

Then we went for lunch at Tanah Rata. Parents went for bonsai hunting, Love and I went for shoulder and foot massage, a must do!

After that, we went to Butterfly park, ok best gileeee sangatttt!! RM 5 per adult. So worth it!!

She made this face most of time; whenever she touched the insects, the flowers, adoiii..

Vandalisme at its worst
Dropped by at the strawberry farm, nothing much to see. And ended our journey with the chocolate factory!! So cantiklahhh this chocolate place, must visit!! And the foods from the cafe were delicious!!

Next trip: Pangkorrrrrrrr!!! Next month jee.. :)

3 days of being a housewife..

..was so much fun.

I cleaned the house.. super clean now, washed all the curtains, arrange every corner and every drawer..

Cooked for Love.

But the happiest of all..

Our first lunch date - just the two of us

Angry when I asked her to pose

The right time to teach her about colours

Syok sendiri sambil nyanyi

.. is to spend it with my girl. Just the two of us.

I love you, Khaira. You're such an easy baby to travel with. Let's make it a monthly thing, our date, I'll try. XOXO.
